Transferees and Re joiners

Transfers - applications now open

Cumbria Constabulary are now accepting applications for transferees across all roles and specialisms for PCs, Sergeants and Inspectors. Apply now to come and join us.  While accepting all roles for PC rank, we are particularly interested in:

  • specialist roles, such as PC armed response vehicle officers (must be qualified armed response vehicle level)
  • fraud-trained detectives, detectives who are trained financial investigators
  • surveillance officer constables (for this role individuals must hold Q1 surveillance accreditation)
  • response officers

Our response bases are: Kendal, Penrith, Carlisle, Workington, Whitehaven and Barrow.

Our shift pattern is: two early, two late, two nights and four rest days.

Please note postings will be made based on operational requirements.

Applications can now be accepted from officers from Police Scotland. Please note, however, that Cumbria cannot accept transferees from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC). CNC candidates will need to apply through the standard PC recruitment process.

Cumbria can only accept transferee applications from National Crime Agency (NCA) officers if they have previously worked in a Home Office force within the last 5 years.

We are also accepting part time applications.

A relocation package for successful candidates of up to £8,000 may be available. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

Inspector Transferees

We are now accepting applications for inspector transferees.

Detective transferees and Re joiners

Cumbria Constabulary are now accepting applications for detective transferees specifically to join the Westmorland and Furness BCU where they will be based at one of three stations; Barrow, Kendal or Penrith.

Officers who have passed their National Investigators exam but are yet to complete the ICIDP course are also welcome to apply.

Firearms Support Unit

Cumbria Constabulary are now accepting applications for transferees who are trained to the national Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) Officer standard to work within the Firearms Support Unit (FSU) within Ops Command.

The FSU role and areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to;

  • Firearms Deployments in response to armed criminality and threats to life (ARV)
  • Operating county wide and cross border if necessary
  • Attend the initial scene of fatal collisions or those that cause serious injury and provide scene management until the arrival of a Roads Policing Lead Investigator.
  • Denying criminals use of the road and supporting other departments with Specialist Policing Skills such Tactical Pursuit and Containment (TPAC).
  • Self-brief around the day-to-day activity of the department, focusing on the departmental objectives of keeping people safe on the road, tackling criminality and meeting force response targets.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake training as Advanced drivers and Tactical Pursuit and Containment (TPAC) if not already trained. A copy of qualifications will be required as part of your application.

The FSU is based at Carlisle, Workington and Kendal and posting will be dependent on current vacancies.

Further opportunities for applicants who hold National Firearms Instructors qualifications to assist within the delivery of training and providing resilience to the Firearms Operation Unit. Current NFI’s will have the opportunity for further development for CPO and TRO, and the subsequent delivery of specialist training.

Roads Policing Unit

Cumbria Constabulary are now accepting applications for transferees who are trained Roads Policing Officers to work within the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) within Ops Command.

The RPU role and areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate ability to self-brief around day-to-day activity which focuses upon the key departmental objectives of keeping people safe on the roads, tackling criminality and meeting force response targets.
  • Investigate serious and fatal collisions.
  • Pro-actively reduce the number of KSI’s on the County’s Road network including both education and enforcement activities.
  • Provide specialist driving skills and tactics to provide a fast road response, and to provide tactical resolution for vehicles failing to stop.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and support to other departments in respect of roads policing.

Successful applicants must already be trained as Advanced Drivers and in Tactical Pursuit and Containment (TPAC). A copy of qualifications will be required as part of your application.

The RPU is bases are at Carlisle and Kendal and posting will be dependent on current vacancies.
