Cover Officer

Applications are sought for the role of a Police Staff Cover Officer within the Tarian Regional Undercover Unit. The successful candidate will have responsibility to work as part of a team to co-ordinate the deployment of appropriately trained undercover officers, to include Advanced (UCA), Foundation (UCF) and Online officers (UCOL), within the agreed Terms of Reference.

The successful applicant will have to successfully complete a cover course in order that they can effectively manage the deployment of appropriately trained Undercover Officers in a number of arenas. Failure to pass the course will result in an assessment of your position within the role as you cannot perform the role without this qualification.    

Applications are invited from individuals who seek a challenging and rewarding role within Covert Operations. Applicants need to be highly motivated, resilient, dynamic and enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills. A high degree of flexibility is required as support may be required at short notice in response to dynamic and changing circumstances.

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and involvement in the use of law and procedures relating to RIPA, Police Act, CPIA, Human Rights and covert policing methods. Successful applicants will require the highest individual standards of confidentiality, honesty, integrity, tact and diplomacy. Successful candidates may be required to work under difficult circumstances.

This is a security cleared designated post. Candidates will be subject to vetting procedures as part of the application stage.

The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo vetting to MV/SC level and also successfully complete appropriate training.
