An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our Serious Crime Directorate (SCD) as a Review Officer.

 

This is a key role both in terms of service delivery in regard to the reviews and debriefs of a variety of crime investigations including major crime, cold cases and Public Protection investigations particularly those regarding child death and conducting thematic reviews of cases for the Force and other Forces across the country as directed, auditing the processes used during the course of the investigation and identifying any further lines of enquiry that need to be pursued and/or any remedial actions that need to be taken. 

 

The successful candidate will need to ensure that all reviews are carried out in accordance with National guidance and local guidance as well as meeting applicable legislative requirements including those relating to: protection of children & vulnerable adults, domestic abuse related deaths, MAPPA, homicide prevention and the Major Crime Investigation Manual.

 

The successful candidate will have recent extensive experience of managing major or serious crime, (PIP 3 or 4 accredited) including a proven track record of successful crime investigation and up-to-date awareness of current legislation. Knowledge and experience of leading Child/Adult Abuse Investigations or other public protection leadership is essential. Knowledge and experience of leading covert operations is highly desirable.

 

It is essential that the successful candidate has a high level of interpersonal skills, together with an innovative and enquiring mind. A Review Officer will need to have a methodical, accurate and organised approach to the work, with an eye for detail. Candidates will be required to possess excellent communication skills, including the production of written reports of the highest quality.

 

Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £65,400.00.
