Accredited Financial Investigator - Economic Crime (SERECU)

The Regional Economic Crime Unit comprises a number of teams performing different functions to disrupt the most Serious and Organised Crime by way of economic crime investigation and asset denial.

We now have an exciting opportunity to join the Financial Investigation Team, who support SE ROCU Investigation Teams by conducting Financial Investigation, POCA civil proceedings and confiscation investigations. 

The role holder will be an accredited financial investigator who will undertake proactive and reactive financial investigations into Serious and Organised Criminality of all types affecting the South East, providing evidence of Money Laundering, and identifying and recovering criminal assets. 

We are looking for somebody with strong interpersonal skills who can work with investigation teams (up to SIO) to identify and evidence money laundering, setting clear parameters and delivering in a timely fashion. 

The role holder must be self-motivated, able to work with the minimum of supervision, and be well organised (preparing case files and dealing with large volumes of material). 

You must be able to demonstrate high attention to detail, excellent investigation skills, with the ability to review and analyse financial intelligence, identify Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) disruption opportunities and present findings in a clear and joined up way.  

You will also be required to provide evidence in court for trials, as well as making applications for court orders in both Magistrates and Crown Courts 

Please note applications from fully accredited Financial Investigators (FIO, FI, Confiscator, CRiSP, Restraint, S.47) will be prioritised. In the event the post holder does not hold this accreditation they will be required to complete the relevant entrant exams and training and thereafter, submit the respective PDP to attain full accreditation with the NCA Proceeds of Crime Centre (PoCC).  

You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role 

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC  together with a number of enhanced security checks.  In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government),and studying abroad.
