Staff - Evidential Review Officer
The Evidential Review Officer (ERO) plays a critical role in supporting operational police officers of all ranks across all force areas to improve case file quality and increase successful prosecution outcomes. Essential to this position is previous experience of investigations and the building of evidential case files, as well as an expert knowledge of the current DPP Guidance, Manual of Guidance and National File Standards. The core part of the ERO role is reviewing case files for both accuracy and compliance whilst providing constructive feedback and investigative strategies/guidance to officers and supervisors. This role involves one to one mentoring and guiding police officers and supervisors on current best practices in evidence gathering and case preparation standards to improve case file quality across the force. The role requires the post holder to deliver group training sessions to police officers and officers of rank, and attend weekly surgeries at stations across the county, offering face to face support.
