Salary: The starting salary is £63,409, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £60,400 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £65,886. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced supervisor for the Counter Terrorism Security Advisor Team (CTSAs). This is part of a national network of CTSAs and this team covers the MPS. This is a key management position within the Metropolitan Police Service and CT policing, contributing directly to the UK Government’s 2023 Counter Terrorism strategy (CONTEST), aimed at reducing the risk from terrorism to the UK and its interests. Due to a retirement this is a rare and excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join the Protect & Prepare (P&P) pillars of the London CT network as we continue to work towards delivery the recently formed regional 1 CTU for London in conjunction with SO15. The successful candidate will potentially be able to inform not only regional, but national change whilst maintaining excellent performance for P&P.
Tasked or directed by Line Manager or by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO). Manage and supervise CTSAs (Counter Terrorism Security Advisors), ensuring efficient operational activity, tasking and performance in the delivery of CT protective security advice and CT awareness to; Venues and Public Spaces (Crowded Places (CPs)), Hazardous Sites and Substances (HSS) and supporting the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) advising Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and to secure environments from terrorism and extremism. To ensure proportionate Personal Security (PerSec) advice is delivered based upon a risk assessment. Surveys and advice will be holistic, proportionate and prioritised, addressing physical, personnel and personal protection. Complete other tasks, consistent with the role, as required by the CTSA Supervisor.
Key Tasks
The post holder will be required to undertake the following:
- Supervise, support and develop staff to ensure a balanced skill set for regional resilience. This will include appraisal, attendance management and implementing professional standards.
- Resource demand and ensure resilience by monitoring staff workloads and abstractions, ensuring completion and prioritisation of tasks (National, Regional, Force), Also signposting, where appropriate, to other relevant stakeholders and websites.
- Seek efficiencies for self and staff.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to maximise delivery. These may include representatives from industry, government and emergency services.
- Represent the Force, Region or CTSA network, in relation to CTSA and CT Protective Security.
- Quality assure records, including Management Information Returns (MIR) for CT performance, or records of activity at sites, for accuracy and timely completion and submission. Also challenge performance where necessary.
- Quality assure CT surveys to ensure they meet national standards and support implementation of the recommendations made; accredited CTSA status required
- If needed, perform the role of NaCTSO Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) of survey submissions by CTSAs seeking Occupational Competence and CTSAs maintaining their Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Quality assure CT awareness delivery of national products developed and directed by NaCTSO to ensure they meet the stated objective.
- Obtain and maintain competence as a CTSA including completion of accreditation, a good working knowledge of role specific legislative procedures, national policy and tactical options to advise internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge of groups, attack methodologies and current affairs relating to terrorism and extremism.
- Ensure appropriate and proportionate personal security advice has been provided to individuals or groups of people at specific risk from terrorism, targeted by hostile states or the need to defend democracy e.g. Members of Parliament by supervising relevant CTSA advice.
- Once occupationally competent, conduct peer reviews of surveys of CTSAs who are working to achieve their own Occupational Competence. (The successful completion of the Radiological and Pathogens and Toxins course is required prior to completing surveys or peer reviews for surveys of such locations)
- Any additional responsibilities commensurate with the role and determined by Line Manager.

The team are based in Lambeth, but the area in MPS any successful candidate will be responsible for may be negotiable, based on operational and candidate’s needs.

Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
