Transferee and Re-Joiner Police Inspector - Disruption Tasking Team (Rugby)
Start Your Journey with the British Transport Police (BTP)
Join a Team Where Your Voice and Values Matter
British Transport Police (BTP) have an exciting opportunity for a Police Inspector to join our Disruption Tasking Team in Rugby.
BTP police and protect 10,000 miles of track and 3,000 railway stations every day – a network that is at the heart of Britain’s community, commerce and industry. Join us and you’ll be providing specialist policing to a unique community in a unique environment, dealing with rewarding challenges that you won’t find in any other Force.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a proactive, intelligence-led policing team focused on reducing disruption across the rail network. As a Police Inspector, you will oversee a dedicated Disruption Tasking Team, consisting of a Sergeant and Constables, delivering high-visibility patrols and targeted operations to prevent and respond to incidents that impact the safe and efficient running of the railway.
The team operates at the forefront of disruption policing, tackling issues such as trespass, missing persons, cable theft, infrastructure damage, suicidality, and persons in precarious positions (PIPP). Their approach combines visible policing with intelligence-led deployments, problem-solving, and partnership working to both deter offending and safeguard vulnerable individuals.
Officers within the team carry out high-visibility and occasional covert patrols, engage with communities and key stakeholders including schools, colleges, farmers, and industry partners, and utilise specialist capabilities such as drone deployments to support operational activity and protect life.
As the Inspector, your role is to develop, coordinate, and lead these operational activities, ensuring resources are deployed effectively and aligned to Force and Divisional priorities. You will be based at the Network Rail Rugby signalling centre where you will liaise with Network Rail control colleagues to facilitate a policing response for ongoing disruption incidents. Duties will involve early and late turn cover.
Why Join BTP?
