The role

Join the fight against serious and organised economic crime and make a real difference to communities across the region.

As part of the Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT), you will work within a highly skilled, multi-agency team dedicated to identifying, assessing and disrupting the highest-priority serious and organised crime (SOC) offenders operating both in custody and within the community. You'll play a key role in tackling the threat, harm and risk posed by economic crime, supporting complex civil and criminal investigations, gathering evidence, and helping to bring offenders to justice through successful prosecutions where appropriate.

This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to work on challenging investigations, develop specialist knowledge, and contribute directly to preventing criminals from profiting from their illegal activities. Acting as a key point of contact for economic crime investigations, you will work closely with the Regional Economic Crime Unit (RECU), PECT colleagues and a range of partner agencies to deliver meaningful outcomes that protect individuals, businesses and communities.

But don't just take our word for it. Here's what colleagues from our wider team say about working with us:

"The job is varied, there are many elements to it and there is often something new to learn, such as new legislation and emerging trends in financial crime."

"One of the most rewarding parts of the job is making sure criminals don't get to keep the money they've made from crime and holding them financially accountable."

"The team is approachable, supportive and genuinely wants you to do well. You're trusted to get on with the job, but you always know there's someone there to help if you need it."

What you’ll do

  • Conduct complex investigations into serious and organised economic crime, gathering intelligence, evidence and material to support criminal justice outcomes.
  •  Plan and deliver investigative activity, assessing threat, harm and risk to identify offenders, pursue lines of enquiry and achieve operational objectives.
  • Interview witnesses and suspects, prepare case files, complete disclosure requirements and produce high-quality reports to support prosecutions.
  • Work closely with regional partners, law enforcement agencies and specialist teams to share intelligence, develop evidence and coordinate disruption activity.
  • Undertake enforcement action, including asset recovery, account freezing, forfeiture and confiscation activity, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy.
  • Provide expert investigative and tactical support to multi-agency partners, helping to disrupt criminal activity, safeguard communities and bring offenders to justice.
